Tomorrow we are leaving Norfolk, Va (mile zero) to start down the ICW. Finally, it was sunny and warm and promises to get warmer (75 F by Saturday). Marco and Ray have their shorts out - I was at least able to wear a tee shirt. I'm sad to see the end of our ocean passages for awhile. I'm sure after 30 some days in the "ditch" we'll be glad to see the ocean again. We've met a nice group of cruisers and it's fun to catch up with everybody now and again. Some are leaving tomorrow to do the Dismal Swamp route but we draw too much so will be sticking to the Virginia cut. We have 10 bridges and 1 lock to negotiate tomorrow. Norfolk has been a wonderful stop. I think we saw more action in terms of traffic coming into the Chesapeake than into New York. The navy is a huge presence here in Norfolk. New York was mostly freighters, barges and taxis. Not sure when we will be able to update the blog again - I feel like we are headed into no mans land!! Posted by Picasa
