We really enjoyed Charleston, it's a beautiful city. Left Charleston on Saturday and anchored out in the South Edisto River (that's another story) and tonight we're in Beaufort, South Carolina. We've already been in Beaufort, North Carolina!!!! Anyway, we've decided we're fair weather sailors and so will hole up here till the sun comes out again before we head off to Savanah, Georgia. Our travel times may be a little restricted through Georgia as there are many places we just can't go at low tide. According to Skipper Bob, this part of the ICW has the highest tides and strongest currents so we're being super careful. Sea Holly doesn't have any more antifouling on the bottom of her keel, but she still has a keel!!!!! Posted by Picasa

The City Municipal Marina in Charleston, SC. We are on the "Mega Dock" about 3 miles from the gate!!! Good thing the marina staff have golf carts!

A great pub in downtown Charleston. Seems all we ever do is eat!!

The market in Charleston - the sweetgrass baskets are truly a work of art.

Waiting for the marina pick up at the grocery store in Charleston, SC. We've stocked up in preparation for Georgia!!

A beautiful old home in Charleston, SC

We also visited a beautiful old cemetery in Charleston. Some of the headstones dated back to the 1700's. It was weird to read an inscription "kind master" along with loving husband, etc.

The municipal library in Charleston, SC - the oldest library in North America. This is the first place we've seen the spanish moss in the trees.

Some of the wetlands along the ICW.

The Princess - she hates it when we leave before breakfast!!

Checking Sea Holly's knotmeter - it was housing barnicles!! Good thing we got it cleaned up because we logged 9 knots going through Elliott's Cut and we had to slow down so we wouldn't run over the boat in front!!

Another shot of the pontoon bridge!

Ray has photos of EVERY BRIDGE we have gone under on the ICW. Here's the only pontoon swing bridge left in North Carolina - it was pretty neat.

Cable cars crossing the ICW.

Fred's trying to catch up. Sea Holly is a race horse under power!!

Now I know why sailboaters hate powerboaters!!!! Posted by Picasa

We all went to Kaminski's a desert cafe in Charleston to celebrate my birthday, to heck with dinner!! Posted by Picasa
